This is a curation of all the courses I have taken at Clemson University that pertain to may major, Spanish and International Business . During my years studying Spanish and International Business I have had a range of Business and Spanish courses that have amplified my knowledge in a variety of fields. 

Business Courses:

Business education for Spanish and International Business at Clemson includes a variety of management, marketing, economics, and other courses in the realm of business. Principles of Accounting:

ACCT 2010

Introduction to accounting principles with emphasis on the use of financial data and analysis of financial statements.

Principles of Microeconomics:

ECON 2110

​

Introduction to economic reasoning and its application to the study of the behavior of consumers and business firms. Particular topics include competition, monopoly, international trade, and the impact of selected public policies.

Principles of Macroeconomics:

ECON 2120

Continuation of ECON 2110 in which fundamental economic principles are applied to the study of aggregate economic performance. Topics include the forces determining the rates of inflation, unemployment, and economic growth, with particular emphasis on the influence of fiscal and monetary policies through financial markets.

International Economics:

ECON 3100

Studies of the process of international commerce. Covers basic theory of trade and exchange rates, institutional and legal environment, current policy issues.

Principles of Management:

MGT 2010

Management’s role as a factor of economic production. Functions of management, principles of organization, and behavior in organizations.

Management of Organizational Behavior: MGT 4000

Provides management students with a framework for understanding how behavior within business organizations is managed. Particular emphasis is on integrating management theory with recent developments in the behavioral sciences with distinct management applications. Theory, research, and business applications are considered.

Principles of Marketing:

MKT 3010

Principles and concepts involved in planning, pricing, promoting, and distributing of goods and services.

Consumer Behavior:

MKT 3020

Examination of selected individual and group behavioral science concepts and their application to the understanding of consumer decision making.

Professional Selling:

MKT 4200

Current theories about the selling of goods and services to organizational buyers in the context of long-term relationships. Role playing, video-taped presentations, and other techniques are generally employed to enhance interpersonal communication skills.

International Marketing:

MKT 4290

Study of marketing from the international point of view. Emphasis is on the necessary modification of marketing thinking and practice for foreign markets due to individual environmental differences.

International Management:

MGT 4230 (Taken Abroad)

Management’s role as a factor of economic production. Functions of management, principles of organization, and behavior in organizations.

Safety and Risk Management in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management: PRTM 3050

Provisions of safe services, facilities, and activities in the parks, recreation, and tourism domain are studied through the application of germane concepts from the areas of safety, risk management, and liability.

My education in Spanish through college has been an expansion of knowledge from experience in Spanish from my Ecuadorian roots and classes during high school. My Spanish language courses include exploration of grammar, composition, culture and Spanish in the context of business. Please view my documentation of language, literature, and cultural competency in the sections that follow. 

Intermediate Spanish:

SPAN 2020

Introduction to the study of the grammar of Spanish and conversational Spanish.

Intermediate Spanish Grammar & Composition:

SPAN 3020

Intensive study of the use of idioms, new vocabulary, and conjugation of verbs. Practice with composition of written work in Spanish with a focus on syntax and style. 

Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms:

SPAN 3040

Introduction to a variety of historical literature in hispanic cultures. We uncovered many historical events that impacted the style and impact of literature in hispanic cultures. Introduction to the basic structures and elements of fiction, poetry, drama, and essay, including literary and critical theory, with readings in 19th- and 20th-century Spanish and Spanish-American literature. Intermediate Spanish Conversation & Composition:

SPAN 3050

Practice in spoken Spanish with emphasis on vocabulary, pronunciation, intonation, and comprehension. Includes written work to increase accuracy and assignments in the language laboratory.

Spanish Composition for Business:

SPAN 3060

Intensive practice of business writing skills through compositions, general review of grammatical structures, and exposure to business vocabulary and concepts.

The Hispanic World (Spain): 

SPAN 3070 (Taken Abroad)

Introduction to the significant aspects of the culture of Spain from its origins to the present. Emphasizes the artistic, social, historical, political, and contemporary issues of the Iberian Peninsula. Hispanic Linguistics:

SPAN 3140

Familiarizes students with the theory and practice of linguistics applied to Spanish, in order to deepen their knowledge of phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics and linguistic change.

Spanish for International Business I:

SPAN 3160

Introduction to commercial Spanish; study of the spoken and written language, protocol, and cultural environment of the Spanish-speaking business world. Business vocabulary, basic business and cultural concepts, and situational practice. Reading and analysis of commercial texts. Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms:

SPAN 3040

This document displays my analysis of a work of classic Spanish literature, "Las Medias Rojas". This is written fully in Spanish and reflects on  the significance of the symbolism and cultural meaning of the contents of the story in the context of the time it was written.

Spanish Composition for Business:

SPAN 3060

This example leads to a business idea I presented with a partner based in Colombia to reflect business and language competency. I researched global supply chain functions and cultural customs within Colombia. I also created a marketing plan and there is a video showing my skills in Spanish as I introduced myself and the business.

This example leads to an essay that critically dives into the influence of the largest religions in  Spain and the United States. This essay examines how Judaism, Islam, and Christianity has had an impact on the architecture, language, and norms in Spain in comparison to the United States. 

Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms:

SPAN 3040

This document displays my analysis of another work of classic Spanish literature, "San Manuel Bueno". This essay dives into the impact of religion on Spanish culture in the past and into the present. It also reflects on the radical ideas the author, Miguel de Unamuno, had for the time this novel was made.
